Day 1 - Starting Consolidation Phase

No, I don't want my picture taken...
We officially started the consolidation phase today, with a spinal tap.  He did great with interventional radiology.  They said that wanted to use IR for the next spinal tap next week, but since he'll get to go 6 weeks without another spinal tap, the swelling should be down for the next phase.

Grandma and Grandpa spent most of the day with him, allowing Patrick to head out for some shopping (way too much to look at in IKEA and Lowes...).  His new wheelchair arrived today, but he was pretty tired from the morning procedure, so mostly spent the day resting.  Tomorrow will be another full day with an 8 hour infusion, which will obviously last all day.  So, hopefully by Thursday or Friday, he might feel up to a ride to the park.
Not feeling all that hot, but I'm trying to smile

All is going well and the fevers from this weekend have not re-occurred.  The swelling also seems to be a little better, although the pharmacists are chasing his magnesium and potassium...normal things for Ryan.

We are so grateful that Grandma and Grandpa are out with him, giving Patrick a bit of a break (to get some work done!)  They were able to put his bed up on blocks today.  We got him a large toddler bed, since the space for his bed was pretty small, but it's very low to the ground.  This makes it hard to get up out of the bed on his own.  We realized on Sunday that he had a much easier time getting out of our bed, as it was a normal height.  So, they added some height today, which will hopefully help him feel more independent.

I'm done for the day... time for a nap!
I'm keeping busy, cleaning and trying to get everything ready for the next time I head out.  And a big thank you to Dillon Boberg for mowing my lawn today... You are the best!

Thank you all for the continued prayers and good thoughts!

  1. Ryan is always happy when his grandparents are around, that is a special relationship because of all the time spent with Ryan when he was a baby. it will take a while for that strength to build back up, always seems to take longer to recover -- kind of like dieting, takes longer to take the weight off then to put it on !!! Love all three pics. Prayers & LUV U all
