Day 21 - Hanging out and eating more

Yes, mom, I'm eating...
Patrick was kind enough to take the morning shift, and let me sleep (all morning and half of the afternoon... I guess I needed some rest).  Patrick was a mean daddy, who made him sit up and play with legos all morning... how cruel!

Ryan started eating more today, and even asked for French fries and tobacco sauce... I see that as a very good sign.  He's still having some belly pain (duh) and a little itching, probably from the Dilauded he is getting with his 'patient controlled anesthesia' (PCA)... The doctors are going to change it to something that causes less itching when he eats enough, so hopefully in the next day or two, if I keep pushing food down him throat...

His ANC came up again today, and his platelets and blood numbers are also stable or coming up.  We also stopped the antibiotics today, as he's finished his course and is doing great. Everyone is quite pleased with him over the weekend.  We will be discussing with the team tomorrow or Tuesday about a new 'plan' for him.  With his unique GI issues, we're a little concerned about the 'standard' plan, and perhaps we need to come up with a 'Ryan' plan...

We even got to Skype with Grandma and Grandpa and the other kids tonight.  It's always good to see them!

Thank you all for the continued prayers and good thoughts!!

ANC:  277
(I forgot the rest of his numbers, but they looked good)

  1. wow, that combo doesn't sound good to me--to each their own!! just glad he is wanting to eat something :) also glad you got some sleep, you need to keep yourself strong to help the rest of your family. That is so good you all got to do the face to face with your other kids plus Ann and Greg--always better than just the voice connection!
Patty, Ann and I were visiting after church about Ryan and how we miss him, and how his course of action is different than most others--but as long as it works--"Ryan's plan" should be followed. Just so happy he is doing better. Prayers still going up for ALL of you. LUV U all

  2. Hello Patrick, Cheryl and Ryan. Been thinking about you and praying for Ryan and all of you. I'm the Maryann from Monarch, who sits in the back of St Mary's.I've been attending Mass in Monarch for the summer, so lost the Raynesford connection and updates on Ryan I was in Raynesford today and visited with Lois, Patti and Mary and they gave me this contact information. So happy to know he is doing so well. Must be so hard for you to be so far away from your family...Skype is such a blessing. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. I took the liberty of letting Bing know of Ryans illness and she is praying as well. God Bless you and I will look forward to positive progress and updates
