Day 3 - Exhausted trip to ER

Sleeping in the ER after his CT Scan |
The good news is that all is great. ANC is still over 3800, and the rest of his labs look great (a little dehydrated, perhaps). They did a CT scan and his lumbar region (where he gets his spinal tap) is still a little swollen, but all looks good. The ended the evening with an MRI (still waiting on results, but all is expected to be fine). He felt better after his nap, and was laughing and watching movies during his MRI.
Although he seems to be back to his 'normal' self, we (and the doctors) decided that it might be best if he just hung out in the hospital for another day or two. He has chemo tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday, and the going back and forth may be pushing him a little too hard. If he's feeling better on Saturday, perhaps he can go back home for the rest of the weekend. But we're not going to push it. They can give him the infusion in his room, and he doesn't have to get wheeled around, into and out of cars, walking, etc. Hopefully, he can get some rest...
It's always hard to go back to the hospital, but this just feels like the best thing for him right now. He might feel better in the morning, but, like I said, we're not pushing him. The good news is that the oncologists are still really impressed with him (and with Patrick). With him, because he still has a smile and his body is recovering really well. With Patrick, because he's not afraid to bring him into the hospital when he needs it... We've always thought, "Better safe than sorry!"
So, tonight (or this morning, depending on how you look at it), we're just keeping the prayers up, staying positive, and letting him get a good night's rest.
Thank you all for your prayers and good thoughts!
I totally agree, better safe than sorry, I always error on the side of caution! Glad he is feeling a little better. My brother had bone marrow cancer several years ago and was in the big hospital in Seattle ( or the "hotel" for those patients ) for over 200 days and he said there was days he just wanted to give up as he was so tired and so tired of being tired. He got really sick to his stomach too, which seems like Ryan is not :) Ryan is such a tough little nut, him and you folks have gone through so much, you take it in stride--well as much as you can when your child is sick, but you really just have to or you would also be sick from worry and that wouldn't help anyone. Be Strong and know there are so many folks praying for all of you. LUV U all
