Day 85 - Clinic and labs

Since he didn't want his picture taken,
I ask for his best pouty face..

When Ryan was a baby, he had an oral aversion to food. Simply, he took a pacifier, but he couldn't eat. For almost the first two years, his intestines were blocked, and nothing would pass through. He got his nutrition from IV's while the doctors tried to fix him. By the time we had the transplant, he was almost 2 and really never ate. As a consequence, he didn't really want to. We were supplementing his nutrition with IV's (as we are now), so he technically wasn't hungry. It took us a long time to get him to eat. It was a balancing act: decreasing his TPN (IV) nutrition enough to make him hungry, but not so much that he became malnourished. I am really praying that once the chemo is finished, it won't be too hard to get him to eat again.
Otherwise, clinic went really well. The ostomy seems to be closed up, with just a little bit of leakage. And his numbers are great. More chemo on Monday, which means the boys get 2 days off! I wonder what they will decide to do for the weekend?
Thank you all for the continued prayers and good thoughts!!
sounds like everything is look good, or at least better than expected. Gee I have days I don't feel like eating, like yesterday (which was not good as I was helping the girls ALL day in the heat) but doesn't happen too much. CU at church tonight !! LUV U all
