Day 89 - Spinal Tap and Silly Hearing Aids

Ryan had a spinal tap today, with interventional radiology.  They had a bit of a challenge, and had to stick him twice.  They suggested that we keep using IR, and remind the team next time that he has a very unusual anatomy.  Typical Ryan, causing trouble... :)

After he woke up from anesthesia, he wasn't very happy (which is pretty common).  Of course, we had scheduled his appointment with the audiologist, because his hearing aides weren't working.  So, the boys went to the appointment, but he was very uncooperative.  He didn't want to do the tests, and he was just acting up.  So, the audiologist asked to look at the hearing aides, and maybe she could figure out what was wrong without having him do the test.  She popped the batteries out, smiled, and asked Patrick if they were Energizer batteries.  He said they were, and he had just picked them up a few days ago.  She laughed, and said the specific brand of hearing aide that Ryan has doesn't like Energizer batteries.  She popped in new batteries and it worked fine.  They all had a pretty good laugh about it, and he's scheduled for a hearing test in a few weeks.

Finally, they made it home, and he climbed right into bed.  He feels fine, just tired.  As he said to me on the phone, "I've had a very long day..."

Thank you all for the continued prayers and good thoughts!!

  1. Ryan isn't causing trouble, just keeping the medical staff on their toes!!! I thought maybe he was too much of an Energizer bunny to have them in his hearing aides too, he he. Well if he had a long day, Dad probably did too.
I will have that dessert on my cupboard tomorrow morning -- so you can pick it up anytime, even if I am not home.
Prayers going up for all. LUV U all
