Day 164 - Playing games

Ryan and Patrick spent most of the day playing games and hanging out at the apartment.

Patrick and I have picked up our love of MMORPG, which we haven't done for years.  For those who are not nerds like us, this stands for "Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game", which is beyond ridiculous, but really fun for us.  It used to be that I would be on my computer and Patrick would be about 10 feet away on his computer and we could both play the game together.  On really good days, we would have the kids and the grandparents and the aunts and uncles all playing in the same game and the same world together at the same time.  We would be Elves and Orcs and Humans, and we could fight with swords or bows or magic... It was awesome.  But, in the last few years, we got bored with it and stopped playing.

Well, with Patrick out in Seattle, we may not be 10 feet away, but we can still play together!  This evening, we were both on speaker phone and we were able to pick up where we left off... I guess that muscle memory thing actually works...  It's not as good as being in person, but hopefully, it helps both Patrick and Ryan feel as though they are having fun with the family, rather than being so far away.  (Not only does Ryan love to play, but so do ALL my kids... the family that plays together, stays together, right?..  and, for those who know these things, we've been playing Guild Wars 2, with the new expansion, not LOTRO...)

Grandma and I had a wonderful time at the Cancer Brunch in Stanford today.  I walked away with a beautiful painting that I won in the raffle, and we both won some great auction items!  In addition, we got to spend some time with some wonderful people and have a delicious lunch!

Thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts!
