Day 192 - Lazy Sunday
As it was a nice, overcast day in Seattle, Patrick and Ryan decided to just stay in today. Patrick has some work projects he wanted to get completed, and Ryan was very excited to have a day to work on his legos. He has also found a new computer game. He was watching Patrick play and asked if he could try. So, Patrick got him installed on his own computer, and Ryan is loving it!
Ryan has clinic tomorrow, so they get to get labs and hopefully, his ANC and Platelets are both high enough for the next dose of chemo. Patrick also gets to talk to the oncologist about setting up an appointment with the neuropsychologist, to discuss the radiation therapy. After talking with a few friends over the weekend, and continuing to do research, we are moving further and further away from wanting to do the radiation. But, we want to make sure we get as much information as possible before we commit to a decision. Patrick keeps saying that this is one of the first times where the choice wasn't easy. Usually, when Ryan is sick, the option is to do some (possibly dangerous) treatment, or else he won't make it. Those kind of 'decisions' are really easy to make. In this case, we actually have a choice. If we don't do the radiation, there is a possibility that the cancer can come back. Of course, even if we do the radiation, there is a possibility that the cancer can come back, but that possibility is lower. But, there are very nasty side effects.
Hoping that all goes well tomorrow and that we have the wisdom to make good decisions!
Thank you all for the continued prayers and good thoughts!

wow, tough decision, I will not even give a comment as I have not been involved with radiation, but I think my sister-in-law was, I will ask my brother.
ReplyDeletePrayers for the chemo to start again soon, and all is well
I didn't have a lazy Sunday, I baked 3 desserts for the blood draw tomorrow and set up the gym and the class room, but it was great doing it
