Day 207 - Still low platelets
The boys headed to clinic today. Ryan's platelets are still low (around 37), so we are delayed (as expected). We will check labs again on Wednesday, to see how they are doing, but I expect that we will not be able to start the next phase (delayed intensification) until at least next week.
The doctors brought up the possibility of Ryan having a genetic mutation that causes him to be hyper-sensitive to the chemo drug they are using. This would explain why his platelet count is struggling to get back up after his chemo dose. They will be testing for this mutation, and if he has it, they will alter his dosage. I'm so glad the doctors are looking at him and how he's reacting and making changes based on his unique physiology.
The boys are still feeling great, so there is always that to keep me positive!
Thank you all for the continued prayers and good thoughts!
