Day 262 - Yea! We finally got our chemo!

Ryan's ANC was up to 900 today, so we got our dose of chemo!  Woo hoo!  Only 9 days later than planned, but I'll take it.  This 'dose' should consist of about 5 doses over 5 days.  So we should be done with this medication on the 12th.  If (fingers crossed) his counts don't drop over the week, we have another dose of a different med scheduled for the 13th.  However, if his numbers go down, then we'll have to be delayed again.

Ryan was being silly today.  He 'lost' his special chap stick and, as a result, his lips are chapped and bleeding.  (This is also because he picks at the chapped lips and because of the medication, it won't stop bleeding).  The only thing we could do was put gauze on his lips and tape it down.  This, of course, makes it hard to talk.  So, he kept taking the gauze off to talk.  We cut our video chat short tonight, after he said hello to the cat.  Patrick is picking up more chap-stick tonight, so hopefully, we won't have this problem for long!

I got to drive Allen back to college today.  Lovely, dry roads (thank goodness!).  When I asked what the best lesson he learned last semester, he said "Don't slack off..."  Good advice!  I hope he has a great semester!

Thank you all for the continued prayers and good thoughts!

  1. Great news!!!!!! Praying that it continues so he can go on to the next step. Might have to tie a string to his chap stick so it doesn't end up on the floor???
That is a good lesson that Allen learned--hard to play catch up in anything. and dry roads and warm weather--great trip.
    LUV U all
