Day 268 - Schedule update
Patrick got a chance to talk to the doctors today about plans going forward with Ryan's treatment.
Our current plan is start the final round of this phase of chemo next week (starting tomorrow, Sunday). That round should last about 4 weeks, but that can change depending on how he reacts. We are leaning towards keeping him inpatient. It's easier for the doctors to handle any side effects this way, and they are able to try to keep him on track. The would push for him to go home if he was really going crazy, but since he seems content, we are continuing to push forward. It will also take a bit of time to get him off the 'drip' for his blood thinner, and they don't want to change that while he's taking the chemo meds... In other words, it's easier for everyone to just keep him in until he's done with this round.
Once we finish this phase, we will be able to start our last phase... which should last about 2 months. We may have to keep him inpatient for this phase as well, but we'll see.
Awesome speech and drama meet in Simms today with our team. We had such a great time! Next week is divisionals, so we can see who makes it to State... Excited and kind of sad that the season is almost over.
Thank you all for the continued prayers and good thoughts!
I can certainly see the doctors reasoning, and since Ryan and the nurses are so close, why not!! Anything that will get him through this last phase with flying colors and great readouts--is awesome. Probably takes a little "pressure" off Patrick also, well all of you as you know he is monitored constantly and is in fantastic hands.
ReplyDeletePayers for continued success :) LUV U all
