Day 286 - 5am phone calls?
Ryan decided to wake up early this morning, around 4am (his time). And I guess when you wake up early, and you're bored, you call people... :)
I got my call around 5:20 am (my time)...
"Hi mom, sorry to wake you."
"Are you okay, Ryan?"
"Yes, I'm awake. Did I tell you about my legos?"
"Ryan, it's 5 in the morning. Are you okay?"
"Yep, I'm good. Sorry to wake you. Just wanted to say hi."
"Hi, Ryan. I love you. Now, I'm going back to sleep, okay?"
"Ok, mom. Good night!"
Apparently, once I hung up on him, he woke up the grandparents. They were much kinder and stayed on the phone with him for a while. I think they even video-chatted, as he seemed so up and chipper. Of course, once Patrick arrived this afternoon, he was back asleep. The nurses said he had been awake for about 10 hours, so it wasn't exactly a problem... Just silly.
ANC is down to about 50, which is pretty low, but we expected it. His platelets were also a bit low, but he got a transfusion today, so that should help. Otherwise, he seems to be handling the latest chemo doses pretty well! We are still on the drip of the medicine to prevent the clots, so it will be some time before we have the conversation about discharge. I think it takes about 2 weeks to transition from the drip to something we can give him at home.
I get to head out there in mid-February, so we'll have a long chat with the doctors on how to proceed with the next phase, and of course, the 3 years of maintenance after that. Ryan never seems to follow plans anyway, but it will be nice to have some time to talk.
Thank you all for the continued prayers and good thoughts!
