Day 291 - Thanks, Lego!
About 2-3 weeks ago, while working on his Lego project, Ryan realized that he was missing a part. We weren't sure if it was actually missing, or if it got lost (dropped on the floor), but he was a bit despondent that he couldn't finish his Batman project. So, Patrick looked up online and there was a form you could fill out and Lego would replace the missing piece. Well, that missing piece arrived today, which made Ryan very happy. We had to laugh, since it was mailed from England (went through customs and everything). But, now, Ryan can get back to work on his big project.
We also had a great conversation with the oncologist about the plan for care. We are waiting about 2 more weeks until his counts come back up. Then we can finally get him off the IV drip that is keeping the blood clots away, and get him back on the medication that we can treat him with at home. Which means that he may only have to stay inpatient for another 2-3 weeks. After that, we can start the last phase of this treatment. This last phase will probably consist of about 4-5 days inpatient and about 10-15 days outpatient for about 3 months. But, after that, the boys will finally be able to come home!
We started Vitamin B supplements today (thanks Rebecca for the suggestion) to help his mood swings. I got a few phone calls today in which he was just lonely. But we were able to help him get through it. Patrick stayed at the hospital most of the day, helping him play his games and watching movies. The doctors hope that we can get off the anti-seizure medications in a few more days, and then he can get back to normal.
Thank you all for the continued prayers and good thoughts!
Amazing, the Lego piece from England, pretty special guy!! Onward and upward on the project.
ReplyDeleteI like that Ryan is on the part of the treatment that you can see the light at the end of the tunnel :) Prayers that all works so that those two Simson guys can come home to Raynesford as planned in a few months.
LUV U all
You are a family that is truly blessed. Blessed with love, patience, understanding and grace. I am continually praying for Ryan and your entire family. For those who think they are going through a tough time, all one has to do is look at Ryan and your family. Hard to believe he will be gone for an entire year before he gets to come home. Thank you for sharing this daily note. I read it first thing in the morning most every morning. - Rose Kommers, SHS
ReplyDeleteOf course Ryan would track down that last piece of lego! I love his persistence. Sending lots of love, Rachel
