Day 306 - Biopsy.. a bit late

Excited for the our biopsy!
Things never really go as planned, which is why we pretty much don't do plans...

Ryan was originally scheduled for the Spinal tap and the Biopsy around 1pm today.  Which means they stopped any food or drinks around midnight and shut off the IV drip (blood thinner) around 4am.  Then, they decided to take him a bit early, around 11am, which turned into noon.  They wheeled him down to pre-op and were all ready to take him back.  Then they got the results of his blood numbers and decided that he needed more platelets (the IV drip keeps you from clotting... we need him to clot when they do things like surgery, otherwise, you bleed out all over the place.  Platelets help you clot, so they would reverse the effects of the IV drip).

So, he was wheeled back upstairs for a quick infusion of platelets (quick, meaning 2-3 hours).  Then, they took new labs... and finally, around 8pm, they got him into the OR.  They decided to wait on the spinal tap until tomorrow (i.e. they ran out of time today), so we are just getting the biopsy tonight.  The spinal tap is now scheduled for 4pm tomorrow (but, we know how schedules go, so we're just going with it).

As of the time I'm writing this, he hasn't come out of the OR, but I'm going to assume it all went great with no problems and he'll be fine.  The only annoying part is that he's been without food or drinks for almost a day, and will be for most of tomorrow as well.  Fortunately, they are keeping him really hydrated with IV's, so it's not a medical problem, just an annoyance.

Thank you all for the continued prayers and good thoughts!
