Day 310 - Going good!

We were a bit nervous with this med, but it seems to be going fine.  We got the follow-up dose around midnight last night, and the doctors are very pleased with how he's handling it.  He's tired and he threw up a few times, but this was all expected.  The dose he got is much higher than the amount he had been getting.  Patrick and I were both commenting that this is what we expected the chemo to look.  We have been so grateful that his treatment has gone so well, a couple days of this is not unexpected.

We were also a bit concerned with the extra fluid around his face.  Since we stopped the IV med for the clots, we wanted to make sure the clots hadn't increased (which could account for excess fluid buildup).  So, the doctors order an ultrasound, which confirmed that everything is fine and we're just being overly cautious.  No problems there!  We have been giving him extra fluids, and he's been sleeping (which can make you puffy).

The doctors did decide to drop one of the chemo meds they planned, since his liver numbers are still pretty high.  No reason to over-stress the liver if we don't have to.  Otherwise, all is going good and the doctors are still considering discharge early next week.

Thank you all for the continued prayers and good thoughts!

  1. Hope that is as sick as the meds make him, and he flies through this in true Ryan style. Ooppss, maybe I shouldn't have said that, sometimes his style is unusual!!!
