Day 334 - Awesome day!
The boys headed back over to the infusion center today to get the next dose of his anti-fungal. While there, the oncologist came by to let us know that ALL the cultures came back totally negative. The 'shadow' in his lung seemed to just be his body recovering, with no problems at all.
They decided (with a little persuasion) to stop all the IV anti-fungal medications. The considered just changing, but we suggested that, since he has no active infection, perhaps he didn't need one? The finished up the infusion and headed over to Transplant clinic.
The transplant doctors were amazed at how great he looks. Even with the trauma to his liver last month, and the opening of the ostomy (which has since scabbed over and looks great), he has recovered beautifully and they couldn't be happier with him.
So, as a reward for the crappy last few months, the boys headed to the movies to see Tomb Raider (yes, they re-did it... I haven't been paying attention). Ryan thought it was great and had a fun time. They still have labs to get tomorrow, but otherwise, don't have to go back until next Monday. We won't start the maintenance phase until his liver has fully recovered (and his bili numbers are low enough), so we'll just keep taking labs until they get where they are supposed to be. With all this free time, I'm sure the boys won't know what to do with themselves!
Thank you all for the continued prayers and good thoughts!
