Day 361 - Finally getting started...
We've been patiently waiting to start our maintenance phase for a couple weeks now. Today, Ryan's labs were finally at a place where the oncologists were comfortable starting. Woo hoo!
So, the first part of maintenance should last about 4 weeks. That is assuming that his counts don't drop and he doesn't have any significant side effects. (knock on wood!) Once we finish these 4 weeks, we have a single dose of a different medication, which they want to watch for a week or so, and then we might be able to discuss coming back to Montana. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but that might mean he could be back in Montana by mid-June. Again, anything can happen between now and then, but I like that we are starting to head in the right direction. The oncologist also said she would be contacting the doctors in Great Falls to see what parts of his maintenance plan they would be comfortable taking over and how often we would have to come back to Seattle. It sounds like we might actually be able to come home someday.
Honestly, there has been some periods of time in the last few months where I wondered if they would ever let us leave Seattle. But, from the conversations today, I am a bit more positive that things might be heading in the right direction.
We are keeping our prayers that this first dose doesn't have any side effects, and that he continues to feel great. And I am so grateful that he is doing well on his new TPN regiment and seems to have an appetite.
Thank you all for the continued prayers and good thoughts!

that is absolutely fantastic news. I am sure there are many times you wonder if you will have them back home in Raynesford - been a long haul, but I think the light at the end of the tunnel is starting to glow :) Praying that this doesn't make him sick and he will come through in flying colors and record time !!
