Day 373 - Quick infusion today
The boys headed over to the hospital today for a quick infusion. Ryan has lost a bit of weight over the last week (about 4 kg or about 8 pounds), so the doctors are a little nervous that the 4-day TPN might be a bit much for him to handle. That being said, since Ryan isn't usually hungry, the boys haven't exactly been eating at a normal schedule (i.e. they don't usually have 3 meals a day). When Ryan was on 7 day TPN, it wasn't a problem. Patrick could skip meals and Ryan had all the nutrients that he needed. Now, with 3 days off, they need to eat more. Unfortunately, Ryan has kind of lost the 'hunger' thing, so he doesn't ask for food. He's not really hungry, so getting him to eat is kind of a challenge.
So, Patrick is planning on trying to get at least 2 meals and hopefully 3 every day for the next week, and see how that goes. Ryan might fight it, but if it can keep him at 4 day a week TPN, then it leads us to the possibility of no TPN at some point the future!
Back in Montana, we had a great night at Prom. Connor and Kathryn had so much fun, and I got roped into helping with refreshments. It was actually fun, although I tried to keep my eyes averted from my children on the dance floor... That isn't how we danced in my day (although I'm pretty sure a few of the songs were at my prom 20 years ago?)
Thank you all for the continued prayers and good thoughts!!
