Day 392 - Life is never easy, is it?

So, today was supposed to be a nice, relaxing day.  I finished up school early, and we were just going to hang around as a family.  Yea, things never go as we plan.

Patrick woke up this morning with an umbilical hernia.  He has been dealing with it for the last few months, but I'm sure the last 2 weeks with his hurt foot has put extra pressure on his abdomen muscles.  Anyway, he couldn't push the intestines back in, so he and grandma headed to the ER.  After a few hours and lots of pushing from the doctors, they got it back inside.  However, it will probably pop back out without surgery.  So, we now have surgery scheduled for next Tuesday on Patrick's belly.  Lovely.

The good news is that he is feeling okay for the moment and Ryan is doing fine.  The bad news is that the trip back to Seattle is delayed, again.  We've talked to the Seattle team and we are in the process of re-scheduling Ryan's dose of chemo.  It's never easy, is it?

Thank you all for the continued prayers and good thoughts!

  1. Life is never boring in the Simpson family. But now it is Patrick instead of Ryan needing medical attention. Prayers for a speedy recovery so they can get back to Seattle to start the last phase for Ryan and get back to Raynesford to stay. LUV U all

  2. Ryan is going to have to share his expertise with the medical community with his dad! Glad they have each other and you to get through the tough times.
