Day 401 - Just when things were getting boring

So, today started like any other day.  We woke up around 6:45 to get our chemo at 8am.  Ryan was a bit tired, but it was early and we figured tired was expected.  Chemo went great and we were out of there by 9:30.  We had a good breakfast and were home in time for church.  After church, we had a fun family birthday lunch.

Ryan wanted to stay with the grandparents.  All was fine until 11pm (it's always 11, isnt it), when we got a call from grandma.

Ryan's belly was swollen and he said it hurt.  After a week of chemo, a swollen, tender belly reminded us of the fistula (where the intestine bursts through the abdomen) that we dealt with during our time in Seattle.

So, we jumped in the car, raced up to grandma's, grabbed Ryan and headed into Benefis.  We called the Seattle doctors on the drive and got right into a room in the er.  Our biggest concern was that his ANC had dropped to 0, so we asked for labs as soon as we got there.  We were pleasantly surprised when it came back at 880.  But we still were worried about his belly.  So, we got a CT scan with contrast, which didn't show any leaking of his intestines.   We gave him fluids and kept an eye on his temperature (as high as 100.6).

By 5am, the doctor asked if we wanted to get admitted for observation or go home and keep an eye on him ourselves.  We chose to go home, but were still a bit worried. So, we'll keep checking his belly and temperature until he's back to normal.   Now, to get some sleep!

Thank you all for the continued prayers and good thoughts!
