Day 421 - Incredibles 2!
We got an early phone call from the surgeon at Benefis, asking about the line and how we wanted to repair it. Amazingly, he was able to get us in for a 10 am appointment this morning, so Ryan and Patrick headed into his offices to have the discussion. We've decided to go ahead and replace the line, rather than repairing it. A couple reasons include the clot at the end of the line that we've been watching, and the fact that Ryan is growing so much (about 5 inches since the current line was placed)… The growth means that the line, which is placed in his chest and then threaded up to his neck and back down into his heart, may not be in the best place anymore (since obviously, the line does not grow with him... hahaha).
The surgeon called radiology to ensure that the next line that we put in can handle the pressure of the auto-injector. Since we will have 3 more years of CT scans here at Benefis, it's worth it to make it easier. And as Ryan has grown, we can place a larger catheter, which always makes things easier. So, surgery is scheduled for Tuesday morning to replace the line. Fortunately, we still have the other lumen (the catheter has 2 ports, making things really easy), so it's not a problem to wait a few days. We also got a quick ultrasound to ensure that his pathway is good and the surgery should be easy.
After the morning with the doctors, the boys came back home for a few hours. Then we headed back into Great Falls as a family to watch The Incredibles 2. Ryan really wanted to see it, and I was so happy to be able to take all 6 of us to a movie with no sex or foul language (amazing how hard that is to do these days!) We had a great family dinner together before Allen heads back to Bozeman tomorrow morning.
Finally, this evening, I asked my 4 kids to pose for a picture, since it will be a while before all 4 of them are in the same room again. It's amazing how hard it was to get a picture! I probably took about 50 pictures... And Connor had the exact same pose and look in about 45 of them.. Crazy!!
Thank you all for the continued prayers and good thoughts!
