Day 452 - Lots of labs!

We headed into town today for Ryan's labs.  We had orders from nutrition, GI and oncology, so it ended up being lots of different labs... In this case, about 11 tubes.  Fortunately, his new line is perfect and it was no big deal.  We are so grateful that the infusion center can draw his labs off his line, rather than a needle stick.  The last time we had this many labs, it took 2 or 3 different sticks.

It was pretty warm today, enough that we complained a little bit about the black interior of the new car... I explained to Patrick that it would only be annoying for 1 month out of the year.  The other 11 months, it will be fine.  We just needed to make an effort to park where there was shade.  hehehe...

We're not entirely sure about Ryan's belly.  It's leaking, so we had an ostomy bag on it most of the day.  But, around 7pm, Ryan pulled it off, saying that it was healing and getting better.  Of course, the gauze he put on it was wet in a few hours, but he really hates the ostomy bag.  I expect that we will have to deal with this hole in his belly for a while, every time he gets a big dose of chemo (in this case, it was the intrathecal (spinal tap) last Monday).

We should know the lab results tomorrow or Wednesday, but the fact that no one has called us freaking out is always a good sign!

Thank you all for the continued prayers and good thoughts!

  1. that is so great that he doesn't have to have several needle pokes :)
Praying that all come back with good news.
I know what you mean by a black interior!! I usually open the windows about an inch, and parking in the shade is great but usually not a choice, I also use an imitation sheep skin or a seat pad with air space!!
    LUV U all
