Day 460 - Work and Play

We have been getting Ryan in the understanding that he must complete his schoolwork before he starts playing.  I think he's been intentionally staying in bed later, just to avoid it, but once he does wake up, he's ready to go.  We had a bit of a butting of heads this morning, as he really, really didn't want to work.  But, he finally accepted that schoolwork wasn't that hard, and he got it all finished.  I just hope that I have the patience to keep it up!

Thankfully, it was a beautiful day, not too hot.  We got the lawn mowed and the garbage to the dump and Patrick got to play with his new 'power washer'...  Of course, luck would have it that we have very hard water, and hard water on car windows causes a lovely film (we practiced on the van, not the new car).  We added some white vinegar to the 'wash water', which seemed to help some.  I think we might need to break down and get a water softener.

The older kids are going on a backpacking trip, so it will only be Patrick, Ryan and I for a few days... It will be strange, but I'm so glad they are going to have fun!

Thank you all for the continued prayers and good thoughts!

  1. Really, school work before play--I can't imagine :) You will have the patience--because you know you have to!!!
Yes, isn't hard water fun, but if you get a water softener do you want it hooked up to the cold water in your taps that you drink, I have heard both pro and con on that one---sure don't think you want it to water the lawn. you are so close to the creek you could use creek water for your lawn--better for it anyway. I was going to suggest vinegar for the hard water stains, had never thought about it in the washer??? good luck

Have a great day, enjoy the cooler weather for a while
    LUV U all
